I enjoyed free evening sherry and cookies in the Lodge while watching the sunset over the Ashley River. After a morning walk to Middleton Place, I returned to my room to light a fire in the woodburning fireplace using the provided starter kit. My breakfast included locally sourced stone ground grits and bacon, which I ate on the deck surrounded by woods.

Popcorn at four in the lobby

I walked to the lobby at four for the fresh popcorn that came out every afternoon. I used the leg press and the recumbent bike in the gym before I cooled off in the outdoor pool and hot tub. I also ate the dinner and snacks that arrived at the kickback hour between 5:30 pm and 7:00 pm, a nice addition to my stay.

A wall between bed and sitting area

I stayed in a king room with a half-wall structure separating the bed from the sitting area. I relaxed in the pool between conferences, and I ate the breakfast buffet with eggs, potatoes, and oatmeal served on real dishes.

Walkway to the performing arts center

Late night shuttle to the airport

I took the free shuttle to the airport to pick up a rental car, as the van service runs well past midnight. I worked out in the gym with a peloton, then relaxed by the outdoor fire pit in the evening. Complimentary coffee and water waited in the lobby for me after I returned from dinner. My room was clean and well stocked throughout my four night stay.
